How do I install KineticDesq?

Download the .dmg, open it and drag KineticDesq into Applications. Launch it, click the sparkles icon in the menu bar, choose Open Settings and point it at a folder of videos.

Will macOS warn me about an unidentified developer?

No. Every release is notarized by Apple, so it opens normally without any right-click workaround.

Which Macs are supported?

Any Mac running macOS 14 or later. The app is a universal binary that runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel.

I paid, but my Mac is not activated.

Make sure you signed in inside KineticDesq with the account you paid with. If the Mac is still not activated 30 minutes after a successful payment, email us with your account email and Razorpay payment reference.

Lock screen sync does not work.

It needs at least one Apple Aerial wallpaper already downloaded in System Settings. It relies on undocumented macOS behavior, so a macOS update can stop it working until we ship a fix.

How do I update the app?

KineticDesq checks for updates daily. You can also choose Check for Updates from the menu bar or the Advanced settings tab.

How do I get my original wallpaper back or uninstall?

KineticDesq backs up your original Desktop Picture the first time it changes it, and one click restores it. To uninstall, quit the app and drag it from Applications to the Trash. Settings live in ~/Library/Application Support/KineticDesq/ if you want to remove them too.
